The letter is addressed from The Grey Lodge, Gladstone Road, Mt Albert, Auckland, a lodging associated with the nearby mental institution, where Willkinson lived for much of her time: "Dear Miss Leatherbarrow, I am so sorry that the book has to follow you to Sydney, but for more than a fortnight I have been out of Dunedin, trying to see some of the farther south before I return to Auckland. Or course as I sign your book as well as this one - and with great pleasure, I only hope that this delay of several weeks won't mean that the present copy fails to catch you up in Sydney, but if it does, your mother will send it on. I appreciate very much your interest in 'Passport to Hell,' and I'm glad you got old 'Starkie' to sign it too. Sincerely yours, Iris G. Wilkinson" . Wilkinson committed suicide in London 3 years later, after arriving there via wartime China. Included are two newspaper clippings one announcing her death and the other praising her work. Very Good.
